To the left of the main composition, where the sand dune partially conceals the frieze, the two main scenes show a bovid superimposed over a dog chasing an ostrich. The styles are very different.

The bovid is linear and simply rendered, with dots pecked over the animal,.

The dog and ostrich are very animated and full of life.  The dog runs with legs outstretched, a short curly tail and pointed ears. The ostrich is running, its wings outstretched.

Beneath the horns of the bovid is a figure standing on a simple square boat.
